    Wall-o-text..

I had a robotic laparoscopic surgery to treat GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) a couple of weeks ago and there's nothing about this process that could have been done any better. Once I got the referral from my GP, I quickly got and appointment with Dr. Al-Temimi. His explanation of the issue, the procedure to resolve it, and any potential risks was friendly, clear, and to the point. We scheduled the procedure in fairly short order, and icing on the cake: we scheduled the follow-up examination at the same time. In a differnt industry we'd call that great customer service.

This minimally invasive procedure also required minimal preparation, which was convenient. I could eat normally the day before, and the only thing I really needed to do was to have a carbohydrate drink the morning of surgery. Much better than what you might think would be necessary for abdominal surgery.

The procedure itself went well. I rembember the anesthesiologist starting the midazolam, and then I woke up in recovery thinking "we're going to get started soon". Somewhat surprisingly, I had literally no pain from the surgery, or at any time during my recovery - no tenderness, no little aches or twinges sitting or standing. Let me say that again: no pain whatsoever.

Robotic surgery is supposed to be minimally traumatic and have improved recovery and my expectations were exceeded. Upon waking from anesthesia I saw a few small incisions held together with fancy surgical adhesive, and I felt well enough that I could have walked home. I had no nausea, dizziness, sore throat, or any of the other side effects one might expect from anesthesia, so the entire surgical crew did an exemplary job.

Of course, walking 10 miles ten minutes after surgery is not recommended, but the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocols were effective. I was encouraged and supprted in safely resuming as many normal activities as possible, as soon as possible. Dr. Al-Temimi gave me some good advice on navigating the liquid diet for recovery. The day after discharge I was able to comfortably walk 5 miles with my dog, just like normal.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Dr. Al-Temimi as an excellent surgeon.
